At some time during the night time hours I lose signal on the 103B sat, signal strength varies from 0 to around 25 on almost all transponders and all I get is searching for sattelite 771 As the day (morning hours) wears on the signal strength comes back to the low to mid 80's. anybody know what's up with this?? so far tech support for this new system sucks, thanks in advance.

first question, roughly where do you live. Just need to know what your weather is like, ie how cold it gets at night.
second question, where on your home is the dish located, roof, wall, or pole. Do you know if it is secure.
Third question. Do you know which dish you have, slimline or sidecar. The slimeline dish LNB looks like one piece, the sidecar looks like a second LNB is attached by a plastic rod and two wires back to the first.

My first thought is if it is a significant drop in temperature, ie 20 to 30 degrees, during the night your LNB on your dish may be defective. Also if your wires coming from the dish are pulled tight they may be contracting just enough to cut out the ka frequency. Yes cable lines actually shrink in cold weather and will pull the center conductor( copper thing in the middle ) out of connectors. This is one of the reasons for the excess loop at the dish and at the ground block outside.

Second thought may be the mounting location. if it is on your roof and it is not properly aligned, you will have issues due to normal swelling and contraction of your roof or wall materials. Where I install at I get 97 to 100 on almost all 103b transponders at all times of the day or night.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific for you but I cant always acurately diagnose a problem if i cant see the system. These are things to check though. Look for the wires to make sure they dont come out of the arm of the dish tightly with no excess to the ground block. Also depending on where you live, low to mid 80's on the 103 may not be correctly peaked out. I know its not if you live anywhere in the south. Northern Mississippi here, close to the Tennessee border.
