Live in area with many high trees. I currently get std Direct TV and trying to determine if HDTV satellites line of site provide a clear line. Understand that currently Direct TV has 5 satellites broadcasting ; 1 @ 101, 1 @ 110 & 3 @ 119. How many more are planned & what are locations for HDTV? If some are planned below 101 than I will be in trouble in the future.

You are correct that there are 5 orbital slots that they use.
however there are not 3 at 119.
most SD comes from 101
they also use 110 and 119 for some locals and the older HD that has been in the line up for a while.
They use the 99 and 103 locations to carry HD spot beam locals via spaceway 1 and 2 satalites.
All the new National HD that has been added since October is coming from 103. The new satalite (direvtv 10) that just came online in October.
Directv will soon be launching there newest satalite (Ditectv 11) that will be broadcasting HD from the 99 slot.

I think DirecTV offers value for money, there was no need to buy any costly equipments. In addition to that I received installation of a 4-room system.
I live in area with a lot of tress but there are absolutely no interruptions. The most important benefit is that my cable & internet bills have reduced.
I had subscribed for DirecTV as it offers NDTV 24x7 and I am kind of addicted to the news channel.

More than likely you'll be ok. Most of the content is coming from 99/101/103. 110 an 119 are hardly used for anything these days except spanish and locals. 119 would be the lowest in the sky and 99 the highest, 103 is not very far south of 101 so you're likely ok.
