I'm trying to install a slimline 5 LNB. The mast is perfectly plumb. I've preset the tilt, elevation, and approx azimuth based on my location. Yet, I am getting no signal on 101 or 119 using a signal meter in doing a slow azimuth sweep or changing the elevation slightly. I've confirmed it's not the cable or receiver. How can I tell if the LNB is even working properly? Are LNB sensitive to the cold?

Try using the satelite reciever instead of a meter. & look for 101.

are you seeing a movement on the meter as you move across the arc...

are you sure the meter is good

I think the only way do test if your LNB is bad is to swap it with one that is KNOWN to work. Point it, get your signal, lock the dish in place and then swap it. If you dont get a signal (be sure to move a little in all directions in case you knocked it out of alignment when you switched it) then you can be pretty certain that its bad. Unfortunately that would require to you either borrow of buy another LNB. I dont think there is a meter you can hook it up to test it independently (like your car battery or alternator).

Good Luck
