I am a full time RV'er and have been aligning my 5-LNB dish on a tripod every time I stop for almost a year now. I'm in Mesa AZ and am having a frustrating problem. I can get 119 very strong, but nothing now on 101 or 110. The tripod is plumb and solid - checked it with a hand level as well as the poll level. The tilt and elevation are good, no obstructions, cables are good - I get both receivers at 100 on 119. I'm stumped. I'm doing this with the same BirdDog I've used for a year.
Please, somebody go ahead and make me look stupid - I can take it :-). I'm baffled as to what I'm doing wrong.

I also am an RV'er and have been using a 5 lnb sidecar dish. I had a similer problem one time and went back to the smaller dish. I found out I was pointed in the wrong direction and i think i was picking up the 101 bird on the 119 LNB. Check your dish pointing

I found the problem this morning - in the rain no less. I got frustrated last night and decided to sleep on it. I plugged my BirdDog in to charge overnight because it was down to about 60% and hit it first try this morning. Apparently, the BirdDog doesn't have enough juice to drive the 101 LNB while that low on battery. Would've thunk it?
Allstop, sorry to hear you went back to the smaller dish. The 5-LNB can be tricky, but I've found the following procedure to make it easier - as long as your meter is well charged :-).
Find 101 first with the receiver's "suggested" settings. Tweak azimuth and elevation until it is the best you can get it. Switch your meter to 119 and tweak tilt only until 119 is the best it can be. Check the others and they should be there too. I've been aligning the 5-LNB every time I stop for a year now and this works well.
However, this experience taught me you can always learn something new. Keep that meter well charged and happy RV'ing!

I still use the 5lnb dish I just gave up on it that one time. I also never use a meter. I just put my wife in the rv and watch the tv while I'm outside pointing the dish. I'm still a working man so I have to stay close to home so I dont need to mess with the tilt.
