I have just purchased, but not yet subscribed, a Sportster 3 and a Homekit.

I wish to have the radio for my truck and transport it to home and cottage as well.

Do I need both. Do I need two subscriptions or would it be better to move the Sportster from truck to cottage etc. Should I purchase another docking facility or what?

You only need to buy another docking kit, then you can plug it into whatever dock you need.....that will save you the subscription fee of another receiver. Buy a home docking kit and hook that up to your cottage radio receiver, and you are set to go.
