So i got a new Slimeline dish and H20 receiver and trying to get it installed from Calgary, Alberta.. no matter what I try I can not seem to pick up any satellite other than 101.. I've messed with tilt and elevation to no end.. I'm using the following settings of.. 101 tilt, 147azm, about 31 elevation..
Could there be something wrong with the LNB's or the receiver itself?? Or am I aiming at the wrong satellite?? I don't have a satellite finder however I should probably look into getting one :)
Oh mask is perfectly plumb, really nice feature of the slimline with the level built in.
Thanks all for any help.

first be certain that you are picking up the 101 with the 101 element..
be certain that the pole is plumb
reset your tilt to there it is suppose to be ...

cover the other lnb's with a peice of cardboard... or watch the signal & cover the 101 & see if you loose signal...
you said that you messed up the settings ... so recheck your settings... tilt & el...

make sure that the level is level....
sometimes the level becomes cockeyed...
the level should fit freely in the level support bracket .. it should be easy the rotate... ... make sure that the level & bracket are seated flush in the pole...

im not sure as to the # or position ... ill tell you how to find out ..
standind in back of the dish ... looking to the sky from left to right ...
these are the sat locations or order...
99 , 101, 103 , 110 , 119 ...so the lbn's are oposite... from behind the dish left to right
119, 110, 103, 101, 99...
ok ... im not sure of this ... i think one of the elements pick up 3 sats... i think that the element on the right standing from behind picks up the 99 , 101, 103..being that they are so close to one another ... the other 2 pick up 110 in the middle & 119 on the left.... so if i am correct from memory ... the element on the right is bigger than the other 2 & that is the 101 element...
so cover the big element & see if you loose the 101....

So I verified that the biggest LNB is indeed for 101 or at least when I cover it up I lose signal.. so once that is tuned in to the highest reading I should have no issue just tilting the dish and picking up 119 & 110.. this is not the case :( I have not been able to pick up any other sat other than 101 so far.. really weird.. I'm going to try a different position for the dish and see what I get as there is a chance a fence is in the way ugh..

you dont want to do a coarse adjustment on the tilt ... if you watch as you tilt the dish it also changes the az & el ...
what you want to do is set all your adjustments first... then find your az & check the el ... & fine tune it ...usually you dont want to change your tilt once your az & el are fine tuned...
remember this dish sees far from its side ... mostly i think from the right side ...
as far as line of site ... the slimline sees signal 99 degrees apart... it sees from the side of the dish... usually the 119 is the lowest & hardest to to see.
for me in new orleans i need clearence from the az 195 to 228 & el from 53 on the left to 40 on the right

I'm going to have to verify what the coarse adjustments are for my area.. I'm actually in Calgary and I'm not able to put in the long/lat to get a reading.. I've tried using the calculator at http://satcalculator.freehostia.com/ but they don't do 5 sat calculations.. I've tried putting in 99 - 119 with an optimized azimuth and the settings just don't seem right as I don't think I'd be pointing at 101 as a main satellite.. :(
My long and lat are 51 & 114 if someone would like to figure out where I should be pointing.. Thanks for everyone's help..

Got this from Dishpointer.com for Alberta:
Full-screenAddress: calgary alberta
Latitude: 51.054°
Longitude: -114.062°
Satellite: DirecTV 5 LNB (99, 101, 103, 110, 119W)
Elevation: 30.2°
Azimuth (true): 163.4°
Azimuth (magn.): 146.9°
LNB skew: 100.4°
Set the tilt and elevation. Then rotate about the azimuth to find your signal. After finding the 101, check the 119. Fine tune the azimuth for the best signal strength for both satellites then fine tune the elevation the same way. Good luck.
