I am looking at getting the new DISH Network HD only programming for $29.99/month with the VIP722 receiver. I plan to keep my basic cable lineup too though (ch2-75). What is the best way to integrate my basic cable channels with the DISH HD programming via the VIP722 receiver?

You can hook up the cable line to the off air ant port.
You then can accress both cable and dish.

Now ch2-75 are local channels?
If so, add your locals through dish and enjoy more HD programming.

I thought the same thing, but I have been getting conflicting reports & others telling me that the "off-air antenna" input on the VIP722 is for rabbit ears only and a standard coaxial cable line (with my basic Comcast cable tv channels) can't be used and/or won't work. I guess maybe I can go to a local dealer to confirm this.

I have a 322 and a 722 dvr.
I have a line that comes in for cable( Comcast) that goes to a wall plate behind the receivers.
I have rg6 coax running into the off air ant for cable and of cause the other outlet is for the dish.
I have found the only way to access the cable channels is to put the 322 and 722 into standby mode.

Now what you CAN do is hook up an off air ant and run a line to the 722, go into the menu and select scan local channels.
This will then add any digital SD/HD local channels into your EPG.

ref the ota antenna connected to the 722. I get the local channels in the EPG but no program information. Is there a way of getting the info this way or do you have to subscribe to Dishes local channels?

You have to subscribe to the local channels.
The EPG info is send via Dish
