I have had a Dish 500 system up and running for several years. In the last couple of weeks I have started to experience signal loss on satellite 119, which is the source of most of my favourite channels. Sometimes it just fades in and out. This morning, I could not get reception at all even after resetting the receiver.
Using the Installation, Point Dish, I can lock on to a signal for 119 trans 11, but when I exit the menu, it tries to use transponder 4 and again no signal.
The Check Switch function shows 2 satellites but the test detects fewer satellites in the configuration.
Does this mean a defective switch ?

it is hard to say ... if you have separate lnb's you can swap them ...or try another port on the switch .. does it happen to all recvrs

Sounds like leaves may be blocking your dish or your dish is out of alignment. Re-align your dish an dmake sure there are no obstructions.

yes. sounds moreso like you've got tree limbs that have now grown into the way of the 119 signal.
