What are we talking, a single dish single satellite setup?

Not hard, your receiver has a built in signal meter, you will need a small torpedo level, you will also need to know the approximate elevation of the location, this is determined in the receiver setup using the local zipcode.

Once you have the receiver setup, and know the elevation, on the side of the dish there is a meter, set the elevation of the dish that your receiver tells you. Bolt it down so it does not move, then find a suitable mountaing location for the dish arm. The mounting arm needs to be plumb, as well as level. Use the torpedo level to make sure, then bolt the arm down, install the dish on top, run the coax cable to the receiver, run the signal meter and turn the dish until you receive the signal, then bolt it down and you are done

Yes, this is a single line set up , although I have a dual dish set up . It has 2 LBN's .Does that make a difference ? which line should I hook up too ? How do I locate the signal meter on the receiver ? How do I find the zip code information ? The mounting "arm" has to be plumb and level ? I have the mounting base mounted on the side of a 4x4 pole ....I'm not sure I understand how to level and plumb the arm . ??
I hooked it up last weekend and moved the dish in every position I could find ...but, I had no luck hooking up ? The receiver /TV said it was looking for a satilite signal but, it never found anything . Is it quick to hook up to the satilite ? Or does this take a long time ?

Assuming its a dish500, you'll need to first go into the menu, type 6 1 1 and you'll pullup the the installation window. From there you'll need to type in your zip code so you know what the elevation and skew settings are. You'll need to set these on the dish itself, the elevation setting raises an lowers the dish & the skew setting rotates the dish left or right. The next issue is Line of sight. Make sure the location of the dish has a decent view of the sunset, if your in the east, or the south if your in the west. Meaning you'll need to able to see a good portion of the sky w/ minimal tree interference. Making sure the arm is level is easy. Just use a standard level to see if the pole is level all the way around, especially the top (at least the part where the dish will sit). Last step, use dishpointer.com to see what direction to aim your dish in.
