I just bought a winegard RD9046 portable satellite to use when camping. The description of the satellite said it worked with DishNetwork and it is easy to set up. Well here I am 4 hours later... I have some questions.
On the setup screen I have a choice of Dish 300, Dish 500 and superdish. I use Dish500 at home. The dish on my house has a dual lnb. The portable one only has one lnb. do I leave it set at dish 500 or do I switch it to one of the other choices? I want to make sure I can get the Fox Sports channel on station 4?? depends on the week which one they use. It automatically goes to satellite 119 on the screen but cannot get any reception. should I change it to a different satellite? I used my zip code to find the azimuth and elevation but this dish does not have a skew setting. The directions with the dish seem real easy but nothing is working. I can't get a signal at all. There are no trees or buildings in the way so I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Thank you for your time and patience!

set your recvr to dish 300 & put in your zip code at this location .. it wont show a skew now...only el & az... be sure dish is level & set el & az as shown on screen for the 119 sat...

night 1 - 4 hours of frustration, ended up here!
night 2 - went out, set up the camper and within 10 minutes we had it working!!!! Thank you so much for your help.
I have one more question though. Some of the channels did not come in. Specifically the Big Ten Network. Do you know if it is on a different satellite? If so, will this portable dish pick it up? If not, we will survive but it would be nice to have since a couple of our football games will be on this channel. I probably should have just bought a DishNetwork satellite but this one seemed a lot easier to take along. It says on the box it will work but I just didn't know enough to understand it wouldn't be the same as the one at our house.
Once again, thank you so much for your help on the first question, it made my night go a lot better and my husband didn't threaten to kill me if I didn't make the darn thing stop beeping : )

im not sure what the big ten is ... ill see if i can find it listed ... what channels is it on ...
the single lnb will pich up one sat .. your choosing .. 110 or 119 ... the dish 500 does both at one time ...

ok ... i found big ten network on the 110 sat on channel 440 - 443... i guess these are the channels you are looking for... so you can repoint for the 110 when you want to see those channels ... or probably a lot easier buy a second dish & point one at the 110 & the other at the 119 & combine them with a sw 21 switch & then you will have a dish 500... or just get a dish 500 ...

Thanks everyone for the help. I was able to redirect my satellite to 110 after clearing the receiver and starting over. Everything worked great.
