I think yo have to look at yo rself (think about it, all the 5th gen were taking updates an people were saying that this was not for the DCT, this is Rca's flagship unit yo athink that there were no plans for this upgrade ?????) use yo r head, there are two tsops in these units twice the area to program lots of space to add extra code. Read posts and use yo r own common sense there is no one that has all the answers to this game ,unless yo work for d$#. This post was not to flame anyone but the updates were coming down for almost a month lots of time to make the mods to yo r machine if yo asit back on the fence an watch the action yo ashoud have ha yo r unit out of the DataStreamawhen not in use. (most updates come down in the wee ho rs of the morning). I don't believe the game is over just yet this new code on the car s has something to do with the wink system allowing very fast changes to single units ??????

hwac... coud yo post the directions for finding the flashprom and modifying it? I woud appreciate yo pointing me in thearight direction. The mod for the other 5th gens are different.

I realize now that I've been hit I will have to sell this one in theanewspaper(real cheap) and get a new one. Want to be ready to modify it before I start theaendeavor.

HC to lock the ir yo have to open unit
find tsops
sod er trace wires to pin 15 and 56 ( one tsop will do )
sod er trace wire to ground
place switch between ground and 15,56 wires
lock tsop by setting switch to make ground and 15,56
unlock tsop by opening switch ground and 15,56

i woud leave it in thealocked mode if i were yo . these ir 's are a little high in price to be doing R&D right now???????????????????????????????????

Sorry to appear as a dummy..but what are tsops? Are they the 2 chips which look exactly alike an have the same part number LH28F160S5T L0A) ? and is pin 15 directly in line withathe white hash mark on the boar ?

Yes they are
If yo r unit has the update I think yo r f#$ked, they trie to doamine the other night (made a mistake an left unit hooke up to lnb, dumb move #$@@!) well they left a message that they coud notafinish the update so it was resche uled for next week (so I didatest the mod but I wasn't really trying to) so next week I will have it disconnected just to be on the safe side.

Ok...one more question and I am off selling this one and getting a new one. How do I locate pin 56?
Is it on the opposite side closest to the #1 pin OR opposite side furtherst away from pin # 1.
