i intend to purchase one of those HDTV ready TVS and I was wondering if I can use my old receiver or I might need to use a plus receiver..

jonnyblade, You may need a HD reciever to get the broadcast.
Be carefull when buying a Tv as some are HDtv ready and some
are HDtv's, some units require a recevier to process the
780/1080i signal. The HDtv's have a built in processor that
will upconvert the picture even if coventinal video is
hooked to it.

For satellite HD you must have an HD receiver such as the DTC-100, There are suppost to be sets made with a dss receiver built in Don't know if they are available now or not.
The DTC-100 can also be used to recieve any local off air HD broadcast
