What if you never enter you HU card?

If you never enter the HU card into your DT-100 will the DT-100 take the update?

I have read that it will not take update if hu never been in. I had a new dtc100 that never saw the hu and it updated. the hu was put up where no one could get it.

Trust me it will still take the update even if it was never powered up with an HU card in it.

I know this for a fact on the DTC-100 I don't know about other 5th gen RCA's

The DTC will take the update regardless of what card is used or never used. It does not discriminate. By the way, the transistor mod is the best way, and the most easiest, and harmless. Performing the mod or removing the receiver from the stream are the only two ways to stop the firmware update.
