Please give me a step by step instructions for the capacitor fix. I'll already lost one unit to the x752 message. Read so called instructions and don't understand the language in them. Please use very simple terms that I will understand. Thank you very much.

1) Find the Transistor

The easiest way to find it, is to find the two EPROMs. You can find these by looking for the two similar looking chips. One has a yellow dot and the other has a white dot on it.

In the same area you will find a little black thingy with 3 legs going into the circuit board. It is marked Q23512 on the board.

2) Grounding Out

The easiest way to get the job done (also reversable) is by first removing the transistor. Do this by first bending the transistor back very slowly so you can access the legs. With a fine point soldering iron, heat up all three legs. While at the same time pulling with a set of needle nose plyers.

Next, take a small guage wire and solder it into the center pin hole. Run the wire to ground. There is a ground pad right near the transistor, but you may find it easier just to run the wire to a screw.

3) Replace the transistor

Bend the center pin up and out of the way very slowly, so you don't break it.

Place the transistor, using your needle nose plyers, back on the original pads. Using your soldering iron heat up the two legs, and they should slide right back into their little holes.

This completes our DTC-100 mod for dummies.

One little hint. You will have to hard reset your reciever every time you want to watch TV. Becuase everytime it trys to take the update it freaks out. So, I found it is easier to put the reciever on its own power strip and just leave it off when I am not watching TV. Hey it also keeps the tiers up on the card that way :)

If I left anything please don't hesitate to add.
