I am using Optimum cable for my internet connection and want to be able to have two computers simultaneously access the internet. Does anyone know how to set up a network and what equipment is needed. I know a little about this stuff but would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Two ways, One Run Modem to the in of a Hub Then you can connect many computers to the Hub. With just two computers.
You will need two network cards. In your main connection computer. Leave the one that you now have just as is, add one of the netcards. The second card will be in the other computer. Now you will have a pier to pier connection. Set you main computer tcp/ip at say 192.168.0.1 the other at 192.168.0.2 these setting are on the extra two Net cards.
Then install a program such as wingate and make your main computer the (server) the other will become (client). (http://wingate.deerfield.com/). There are many different programs out there such as wingate but I use it and works quite well and has a good firewall. This is just the very basics but it will get you going in the right direction.
Merry Christmas
