I am sure several other members have tinkered with there Sony Play Station One stations... I added some hardware several month's ago (a little chip with 4 wires) to allow me to play MY legal back up CD's (don't want to ruin the original!). Problem now is my son rented SPYRO3 from BlockB***er & it recognizes that the PS1 has been modified!

I know they sell "stealth type" chips for this new technology, but I would rather switch off the existing mod. Has anyone done this?! Do I need to cause an open circuit on all 4 wires to play ORIGINAL PS1 CD's with the new copy protection?

Any quick help would be appreciated - I have an 8 year old ready to start crying :(

I can't help, but have you tried the interesting devices website?? Just do the dotcom thing to the name and go and see.

Sorry I can't help. Good luck.

I have been all over the Net looking for people with similiar problems... I may just take the chance and wire all 4 connections through a switch to enable/disable the mod chip. Only wish someone out there has confirmed this will work.

I also heard of an "AntiMod" boot program out there that prevents the PS1 from tamper testing. Haven't found it yet, but willing to give it a try. It may be time to break down and purchase a new chip...

Anyone live in the Dallas area with the new Stealth/Mod chip (8 wire) in stock?
