oval w/t 97 strenght and no picture.

hi, i need help.
it have 97 strenght at 101 w sat. i tested the hcard at a friends house work for all channels. i took a look at his transponder from 1 to 32, all has strengh. but at my house only form 25 to 32 have strenght i tested with 2 5th gen and 3rd gen ird. i could only see channel name listed, couldnt view it. it say" waiting for satellite signal"when i select one channel. why is this please, help!

to kelroy, yes i did select oval shape and 2 sat. even i hook the round shape sat. i still need to select oval in the menu, otherwise there are only 100, and 5 of 840+ spanish music channel.if select oval each oval or round shape connected satellite then i get all channels. sometime i dont even get all 101+ channel. stupid "searching for satellite signal" message is annoying this is going on for weeks. iam new to this. i know what 101 w and 119 w sat is. where to point to. the problem is that i can only get signal in that direction, if i move more than 3 degree no signal. that is stange if i move then i should get at least one of the satellite. man i giving this ---- up. give me a head act.

Verify your "tilt" setting. When you put in your correct zip code or city, it should give you three pointing coordinates, Azimuth (side-to-side), Elevation (up and down) and Tilt (rotation around the pointing direction).

The Tilt setting is critical, as is having a plumb & level mount. If any of this is wrong, your satellite pointing life is gonna suck in a major way.

The Tilt adjustment bolts are on either side of the middle of the dish. Find you tilt setting, set it, then leave it alone. The tilt setting for around Chicago is "68" (for example). The West side of the dish should be lower.

If the tilt setting is off, you will NEVER get both satellites ar the same time. According to your post, it sounds like you've got the 119 nailed, but the 101 is not there (119 will show signal on XP 24 - 32, sometimes 12).

Maybe you have the "Sat A" and "Sat B" leads reversed on the multiswitch...

I think your 101 LNB is pointed at the 119 bird. You'll have to adjust your elevation and azimuth.

well you may be right that 119 is whe4re my dish is pointing to . but then why i could not get any signal with transponder 2-20 while adjusting the dish. my setting anzimand tilt is right cause i got signal from 119 w. so i guess no 101 w sat for me?

is it matter where u put your dish or how high or low , i put on the roof and set anzim at 197 and elervation 54. still cant get the 101 sat

Did I read the above right? You only have a round dish? If so, you're single LNB system is pointing at the 119 bird. If so, you need to point it at the 101 bird instead of the 119 bird (ie. 18 degrees difference) so yes, 3 degree shift from your current position will result in no signal... it needs to be moved more.

Do you actually have a round dish or oval dish? If you have an oval dish, how many LNB's?

If you only have a round dish, changing your IRD setting to 'oval and 2 LNB' won't do anything for you. You'll get the channel guide but you won't get most of the channels and some not be the actual channels.

Here's a list I downloaded from somewhere... It may be a little bit old but should be helpful for debugging. The active transponders won't change, however a few channels may have moved.

i have both, it is now connected to oval with one lnb, and is 101 w sat, i am not spanish so no need for 119 sat. i got this for $6.if i use round dish and selected in setup menu it only give 5 channels. if i choose oval with 2 sats, then i get all channels that sucks, yeah?
i will adjust the tilt later after work around 3 or 4pm central so i will let you know!

yes i got the signal.
this is what is did
i went and find out the correct setting from the web site for the 101 w sat azimuth and elevation.
the setting from the rid was wrong, elevelation was off by 4 degree. i now have all channels thanx everyone helping me.
i put on transponder 2 for locked at 97 strength. i went and recheck all the transponder every single one of them get signal.
stupid 3 of the reciever gave me the wrong elevation. couldnt watch tv for whole holiday. thanx again all
