View Full Version : even transponders

Until recently (24h ago) i had all channels working beautifully and all transponders got me a signal of 90+. Since last night i lost all signal on even transponders but the odd ones work really beautifully.
On the cable coming from IRD I get 8v for odd, 14v for even transponders and I assume the IRD is fine. i checked voltages at several other places on the wire and I assume it's fine. The only thing left is the LNB. Can the LNB cause such a problem ? If so, how much is a new LNB ?

Thanks,

Check the voltage at the output of the IRD. it should be +13 / +18 VDC. If it's lower at the IRD, then the IRD may be bad.

If it's OK at the IRD, but too low at the end of the cable, you have a cable or connector problem. I'd check the cable end at the LNB first (due to environmental exposure), then the grounding block (if you have one..same thing environmental exposure), then work back toward the IRD from there.

If the cable to the IRD is subjuct to small children, animals, or excessive movement/flexion (like, to rotate the IRD to switch out the H/Hu cards), I'd check there first.

Kinks or extreme bends in the coax are also bad.

Good Luck

my ird is a an rca drd222d receiver and i get 8v on odd transponders and 14v on even. This is measured just before plugging into the LNB. Today i got a new LNB and it works again, signal is perfect ( 90's ).

Thanks for your reply.
