Also I have seen some of the multiswitches that come with the oval dish are marked INDOOR USE ONLY....

Make sure before you install it on your dish that it was made to be an outdoor switch. If not you will be buying a new one in a few months.....

I installed outside for several reasons. 1. Got tired of clicking(I know someone has said that they do not click unless there is a short, but I went thru 1/2 dozen of them and they all clicked even after metering all cabling until I replaced the switch with Recoton electronic switch unit). 2. I agree it is much easier to run cables to various receivers.
I purchased a $20.00 electrical component box at Home Depot and placed switch inside of it before installing next to my dish outside. Works well and is out of the weather and out of the way.

Good Idea. I didn't think about getting a weatherproof box to install it in.

He who does not use a weatherproof box with coax out the bottom, will buy new switch soon. I prefer to mount the switch in the attic or on the side of the house. Heres the hard part , make sure you seal the box where the cables enter, or the box becomes a wondefull home for all kinds of bugs, notably wasps. Also Coax seal is great stuff.
