Ok, boys and girls.. here's my problem.. Girlfriend is moving out, and i plan on moving with her soon. Only problem is that the lanlord doesn't want any dishes on the building. Sooo.. i'm pretty sure that i had seen somewhere's that you could point your dish trough a window. There are 2 large windows in the living room, but i dont think they are facing the right way, the dish might have to be on a angle, pointing out the window. Are there any products on the market that would help in this situation? Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get around this little problem, cause I'm not moving ,if my dish cant come with me.
Thanks

Will he allow you to mount it in the yard? You can mount it on a pole there and bury the cable. If you mount it and shoot through a window it has to have a clear sight to the bird.Do you have a balcony? You can clamp it to the rail if the holes are the problem.

I also remember reading somewhere that they can not keep you from installing a dish. I can not remember where I read it, but someone sued a landlord to that fact, and won. Maybe my one of my brothers who is an attorney told me. But, I know it happened. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO FIX ANY DAMAGE THOUGH, once you remove the dish.

Check http://www.fcc.gov . There have been additional rulings in favor of tenents with a desire to put up a dish. The rulings are posted and indexed.
Good Luck

I think i will try aiming it trough the window, if it doesn't work, i guess i'll have to figure out something else.. maybe a pole or something..
And i'm canada, so i cant really fight this in court with the landlord. There is a small business next door, maybe he would let me install the dish on his property, and i could run a cable to our appt.. thanks for all the info!

No there's no balcony there.. that's the ----ty thing.
I'll see what i can do, i hope that it will work trough the window! It would make a nice center piece in the living room also!

Assuming that you are in the US.....
Landlords can not keep you from installing 24 inch or smaller dish on the property. BUT, they can place major installation restrictions. (No drilling holes in walls is the biggest.) But every problem has a workaround. Mount your dish in a 5 gallon bucket filled with cement and a post coming out the bucket, run your cable to a window, place a 2X4 in the window opening with a hole to paass the cable. Get a window lock from a hardware store to secure your window and he cant say a damn thing....
