Ready for a little ranting people?
Flames or not here I go.
I of course realize that I am a fairly new registered guest here at the Den (non paying memeber - under the "FreshFlesh" allias), however, I assure you that I am not as "new" as I may appear. I have been in and out of the Den using various alliases and what not for quite some time now. I have even held a working "Membership" here. I have cruised the sites and roamed the territory looking for quiality sites dedicated to "supporting" the DSS "hack" and have concluded several times that The Pirates Den is by far the most in depth site, containting quality forums, excellent moderators and such forth.
To expand on my previous statement, "supporting the DSS hack" I have this to say. Is it not just that? It is a hack. While I do not call or consider myself to be a "hacker" I refuse to purchase "services" or scripts (including the so called HU fix out there in Canada) in order to watch TV. To me this is a hobby and nothing more. I gain no finacial benefits from doing what I do. What I do gain is experience and free TV. I give ALL the credit to the person(s) involved in logging the data stream, breaking down the code, creating software, writting scripts, manufacturing hardware and all the other bullsh*t involved. To these people I have this to say, "Bravo" and "Thank You". I myself am incapable of doing such an act yet these people and myself have much in common. For the most part these people work day and night, plucking away at the endtrails of Dave for little or no financial gain. Why do they do it? Because to this breed of person this is a game, a hobby inwhich they enjoy. It is at this point inwhich I relate. I myself consider these people key factors in the "game". To pay for something inwhich passes through our bodies freely 24 hours a day (air waves) generating all sorts of medical concerns and beliefs is not an option to these people. I have this opinion to share, "If Dave is going to send waves through my yard, down my driveway, through the door and into my head, you better bet your f*cking ass I'm going to do what I can to translate that stream into something usefull on my Sony 27" TV and I'll be pretty quick to tell Dave what he can do with his monthly subscription should he ask.". What I am trying to say is this, much like the "hackers" I do this for sport, challenge, whatever you call it. One thing I do not consider as an option is payment. I refuse to purchase a script for my cards, I refuse to purchase a service to have my card programmed or fixed, I refuse to purchase a membership on some website for their services. Now Risestar before you get all heated up, I have all ready stated my opinion concerning your site. Thumbs up! I myself have not payed for and will not pay for anything relating to getting my card working. It's just who I am. I'm in it for the "Game" and the free TV. If I have to pay somebody in order to get my TV up and running then in my opinion, I have lost the "Game".
Much like a "Hacker" who purchases a laptop and rents a hotel room, I have my PC, programmer, unlooper and experience. In the end it boils down to people such as myself. The person(s) I have mentioned above. The person(s) who are in it for the "Game". As long as the world has people such as these we will all get along just fine.
