Yes you can split a single 2 ways. This is how a multiswitch works. The price for a dual LNB is probably less than a cost for a good multiswitch though. If you can find a dual DC pass, diode controlled splitter this will work as well. If you have anymore questions post back and I will answer to the best of my knowledge.

A multiswitch will only allow 13 volts to cycle through the LNB.(18 or 20 depending on system) I should have been more clear with the splitter. You never want to run a splitter without the multiswitch unless it is designed to only allow the specified voltage pass. This is what a multiswitch does.

Multiswitch is designed to work with Dual LNB. so you can have both polarities working on different receivers.

You could use a splitter from your single-LNB to multiple IRDs. However, since the single-LNB becomes polarized, you'd be limited to watching only odd- or even-numbered channels at any one time. As noted above, you'd have to regulate the voltage sent to the LNB.
A multiswitch (Channel Master 6314IFD or ASKA LNC-34A) will allow you to watch on up to four IRDs simultaneously, from a dual-LNB. If you connect too many switches, you'd need to power the LNBs with a Satellite Line Amplifier (CM 5213 or ASKA LA-9520-D).
A simple solution for you would be install a replacement dual-LNB on your dish. They're available for about $35 at your local electronics store.
