I have the following setup:
Elliptical dish, 2 dual LNBs for the 101 and 119 satellites, standard (supplied) 4X4 multiswitch mounted on the back of the dish.
Two outputs from the 4X4 MS connect to another standard, passive, 2X4 multiswitch which distributes to my four IRDs (3 Sony A series, 1 RCA).
In this configuration, everything works fine.
I bought a basic RCA Plus box, pretty much just to watch NASA TV. When I substitute the Plus box for ANY of the "regular" IRDs, the Plus box works OK all the time, the "regular" boxes ~occasionally~ fail ("Searching for Satellite Signal").
Other times, the standard IRDs begin picking up the information from the 119 bird (Spanish language programming)...(ONLY the 119...all the 101 menus and programs go away)
My impression is that the signal / power from the Plus box is stronger than from the "regular" IRDs and is freezing the relays in position...or overriding the switching signals from the older IRDs. Or perhaps the 22KHz tone is screwing things up...I'm not sure.
Sometime within the week, I'll be replacing the passive 2X4 MS for a powered 2X8, (definately tone-enabled)MS.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Scott
