I have installed many DTV and Dish Net systems using the 18" dishs. These dishs when mounted on a horizontal surface (such as the side of a house) would swing almost 180 degrees. Did my first Dish 500 system on a brick house and found that dish will not come close to the 180 degree rotation. I should have known, but old way of thinking was it would work. Dish is slightly larger and with 128 skew (south of Charlotte, NC) the dish would not rotate far enough to get the satellite signal. Off the wall and onto a pole mount. Just a word of caution, if the satellite is close to parallel with the wall, then you may want to hold it up before mounting to see if it will swing to desired bearing.
