Tks for the new forum..

I have some questions about hdtv and its compatability with standard tv sets? Does anyone have the new rca unit and if so is it hooked up to a hdtv or a standard set? If I buy the rca unit do I have to buy anything else to make it work with a standard set with s-video inputs. And will I see a noticable difference over the regular receiver with s-video.

I'm sitting on the fence and it's start'in to hurt. Any help would be appreciated.

The RCA set doesn't have Svideo out, it only has a VGA output(like a VGA monitor). So you can hook up a VGA monitor to it. Or you can get a VGA -> RGB+HV cable for HDTV that accept RGB+HV.

The unit will receive off-air HDTV signal with a regular antenna, but if you want to watch DirecTV HDTV you'll need a 24" elliptical dish with 2 Dual LNBs to get the signals

Tks Turbo.

If I understand correctly, I can't use the DTC 100 with a std. tv.

Could you tell me what outputs are available? Seems funny to release a product that is not compatable with 99% of the markets tv's. Do hdtv televisions have these special rgb inputs.

Does anyone know of a release date for a sony hdtv receiver?

Could I use 2 daul lnb's on separate dish's with the multiswitch and achieve the same results...

Wrong wrong wrong the rca has a super video out and it will connect to a reg TV but if you want to take full advantage of this unit you must use the 15 pin HDTV output and use it to a input on a (scaler) or direct to a TV that has HDTV in. now most new TV's say that they are HDTV ready but this only means that out can connect a scaled signal (requires an external box but very few available).
I have a new rca unit and a HDTV Sony projector with a faroudja line quadrupler, this system is awsome but I wish they had more channels in HDTV format.

Maybe somebody can help me with a problem I have I have 4 receivers 3 d?? Plus and one reg now my problem is the rca hd unit receives all the 900+ channels and the hd signals but no spanish channels, and with the same card in a rca 480 (as well a plus unit) I receive the spanish channel's but no 900+ channels I have set everything the same in the setup of the both receiver's but I still get differences in the channels the receive???? I think I should get the same channels in both units using the same card ??????

hwac tks.
I didn't think rca would release a unit not compatable with most sets. I have a Sharp LCD projection that a svideo input. Will the line quadrupler make a difference with my Sharp or will I get the same results with the rca 100. If so, how much are those units, and are they available in Canada?.

i don't think that the sharp can take the input from the rca the signal is 1080i the sony is the only projector ( lcd ) on the market that can accept this signal direct , now for the scaler the one i have is $24.000
cad i don't think you will want to spend this kind of money on this unit ??? there are cheaper ones on the market but you know the saying
( you get what you pay for )

hvac.

$24,000.00!!! Are you sure there is nothing out there that might be a little more expensive!!!!
Now I hate to ask..What should expect in increased picture quality with the DTC 100 over a reg. receiver with both running svideo inputs on my pathetic sharpvision LCD projector?

I don't know if you will see any differences with the rca running in non-HD mode but I tell you this in HD mode it will blow you away

I have a Sony VPL-W400Q HDTV LCD projector capable of 1080i signal. Does this mean, I don't have to buy a scaler or set top box to connect directly to an HD RCA Ird ? Please let me know if RGB+HV cable is equal to RGB w/ sync-on-green mode for Sony projector.
