The only problem with the RCA HD unit is that it won't help you track down the 119 sat. Apparently, they forgot to allow the unit to switch sats(1 & 2) to aim the dish properly. Unless of course you've got an expensive sat finder. I've had to bring along a basic plus unit to first find the signal whenever I've had to install the unit for friends. When you look at the sat option on the screen it only has either round or oval. A lot of help that is. But it will allow you to receive the HDTV signals fine. It doesn't pick up most of the Spanish channels though. I think it's because the system is a standard unit rather than a true plus. But that also means you get all the 900s. Good luck.

If you lockin to the 101 bird, are you saying that an additional fine tunning is required to position the 119 bird. The dish is fixed or am I wrong.

Well, there are two things involved. Yes, the dish is fixed but you have to rotate the tilt angle properly so that you can receive the 119 sat. But that's not the RCA goof I was talking about. Usually, when you buy a standard plus unit, the installation menu screen will allow the user to monitor signal strengths from both lnbs.(sats) Much like the old DSS 2 systems. It helps in being able to diagnose if you're close to the 119 bird. The 119 is a weaker sat than the 101. Well, the problem is that this function doesn't exist on the DTC100. You could only monitor the signal strength from the 101 bird. Therefore, unless you have a sophisticated sat finder, it's an extraordinary pain in the ass to try and find the 119 since there's no way to monitor it's signal strength using the DTC100. Like most people that own the unit have found out is that it's not a true plus system. I like this better because you get the HDTV signals and a few others like NASA TV without losing the 900s which is what would happen with a basic plus system. So, unless you can afford an expensive sat finder, it's good to use any basic plus unit (i.e. E-11 Hughes) to acquire the signal for both sats and then hook up the DTC100.

I have a RCA DTC 100 with an H card and it does have a signal strength meter for the 101W and 110/119W birds. DTV did a software upgrade on it about a month ago and made it a "plus". Lost the 900's gained the NASA and spanish. They said it would improve HDTV features, whatever that means.
