i agree darkside. we are having enough troubles fumbling and bumbling and looping hu cards as it is. why worry about some card that's not even come out yet.

Why in the world would they come out with a new card. Right now they are in negotiations with Rupert Murdoch, and the Dish network that want to buy them out. The reason that you haven't seen any ECM's lately is probably because they know one of them is willing to give them the deal they want. Right now they could care less if if a few people are getting free TV, all they are thinking of is ways to spend all that money $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

there is no new card , sure someday , but no time soon . I am sure that direct tv would have to shut down the h card data stream before they could suport a third one , just not enough bandwith .

Dave has too many other things to worry about right now, He needs to get a bird in the sky and operational by Jan. 1, So he can stay within the federal mandate to launch all of the must carry local stations. For him to try putting out another card at this time, would be a lot more money then he is willing to spend. Launching the new bird will be expensive enough, and he doesnt want to get anymore in debt then he has to, otherwise if dtv does sell to either Dish net or Rupert Murdock, at the price they are asking they are just going to break even, from all they have invested, i know that sounds funny , they have nearly 10 million subscribers, and they still have not turned a profit as of yet,but it is how that type of business works, it will take nearly 20 years of them being in business to start making a profit, when you look at the costs of advertising, and how cheap they are actually selling there systems for, and compare that to how much the system actualy costs, It costs them around 500-550 dollars per customer to activate them, so it will take time to actualy turn a profit, and GM/Hughes likes to make there money now not in 20 years....
