Was wondering can you be charged for shipping devices to the US from canada or is the person recieving the items most likly to be prosecuted if the customs has by chance seized the items.. Have a friend who shipped some stuff a few times and got a few letters from customs after they seized the items.. saying alot of legal mumbo jombo and he is from canada.. he got a little nervous.. he was then told only the end user will get charged if they go that far and to not worry about it and throw out the papers.. can a canadian be charged for shipping products or items to the US or do they head for the US resident and the purchaser?? and if a canadian can be charged for shipping to the US who woud be the ones charging and would he be in court in the US or Canada.. I was under the impression that the end user probably would be looked at and not the canadian.

thanks

CymanTempler,

There is really no reason to panic.. the items are seized and you have the right to contest it with a bond or lose it to forfeiture.

Say goodbye to it and just forget about it.. if you are very concern then contact a lawyer.

Denverb,

Yes, you could be charged, anybody can be charged for anything. There have been Canadians charged criminally for exporting test cards into the US (discountsatellite.com comes to mind). Whether you would ever get extradited for trial is another story. My guess is that they only charge and extradite the more serious offenders, but I'm not a lawyer.
