I bought the preview version of Windows XP and donloaded it and installed it. I need to uninstall it and go back to WinME or 98se. Some of my more important programs are not working with XP. Can somebody please help me?

I uninstalled win95 before by going to adding/removing programs in the control pannel. I've never worked on that version of windows before. can you not do it that way? Is that version the one after the me version?

XP has registry protection and makes it hard to uninstall.

I am assuming that you loaded Windows XP RC-1 (or possibly RC-2)? You should have been given an option to save data for an uninstall. If you did this, then there should be an unistall to revert back to your old OS.
There are also two separate newsgroups for the RC-1 and RC-2 deployment:
You can access the newsgroups one of the following ways:
Using a Newsgroup Reader (Outlook Express)
1. Tools
2. Accounts
3. Add (button in upper right of box)
4. In drop down select "news"
5. Type the name you want everyone to see you as
6. Type the email address you wish to use
7. In the NNTP box type: privatenews.microsoft.com, be sure to check the lower left box that reads "My news server requires me to log on"
8. Account Name = privatenews\mswinxp
9. Password = winxp
10. Finish
You will then be prompted if you wish to download the new newsgroups, click Yes. Then subscribe to all of the newsgroups you wish to view.
Using X-News (Internet Explorer)
1. Go to http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=winxp-preview&slcid=us
2. Password is "winxp"
