Im driving back into NY state on the weekend for some dishes for family and friends. How many can one bring back if i dont stay over night? Last time i went with 4 friends and brought 4 back and Cananada Customs were questioning
why we had four" I said cause we live in differnent houses!Duh" She rolled her eyes and said "whatever" and let us pay the duty and we were on our way. So what gives? How many can we bring back per person?

I went down to Buffalo last month and brught back a double system, a single system and a echostar system, so 4 recievers in total. I declared them all myself and paid duty, no questions were asked. As long as you declare them and pay duty you should be fine.

If you declare them you can bring back as many as you want. I met a guy at customs who had 25 systems in his van, and had just finished declaring them and paying duty. I bought 3 systems, I only stayed in the states as long as it took to go to Walmart, buy them and cross over again.
Good Luck!

Hello
This issue is one of the things that works in our favour. If the Supreme Court rules that the RCA and Broadcast act are a complete prohibition, then mom and Dad American tourist with a dish on their motor home will have to be turned back at the boarder. Any other course of action would afford a foreigner privileges under law, that Canadian Citizens does not have.
Of course they could take the position of the Chinese Government and say only foreigners are allowed to watch foreign broadcasts. The more you look at all the real issues here the more it becomes apparent how poorly thought out the Government and the Monopolies position on these issues are.

howdy,
sorry to be so naieve and ask silly questions, but why would you go to canada to buy a satelite dish(DAVE TV) setup? Do they come already fixed? or are they cheaper?
also, has anybody purchased a card programmer in niagara falls and then brought it back over the boarder? did they give you ----? did you declare it?
thanks,
frank

First...Read the first post again...It clearly states that allelup will be driving into NY to buy the dishes.
Second...Dogs get fixed...DTV gets hacked.
Third...a card programmer is so small, you could hide it anywhere...down you pants if you wanted to. I wouldn't worry about it.
