If you know of any films that most people probably have never seen or heard of, but you thought were really well-done, post them here. Also, briefly let everyone know what you thought was good about the film. Feel free to put stuff from any genre and don't worry about info like the director, or year...I just put it down on mine because I'm a film nut.

I'll start with one of my favorites: The Tenant. Roman Polanski (Rosemary's Baby) directed this in 1976, and it's a creepy little masterpiece of paranoia. Watch this one late at night, by yourself, and I guarantee it'll leave even the most jaded a little disturbed. It's especially effective if you've ever had bad experiences living in an apartment (who hasn't?) ;). I've watched a lot of sci-fi/horror/cult films, and this is one of the few that has really managed to leave me unsettled after viewing it--all without using any major gore or traditional man-in-a-mask-jumping-out-from-behind-a-bush shock tactics.

Is that one with Keifer Sutherland, too? If so, that was a good one.

I like a little known 1949 movie called "Prince of Foxes". It stars Tyrone Power and Orson Welles at his best. It's about the rise and fall of Cesare Borgia circa 1500. It should have been made in color but it's in black and white.

Zcubed, if you liked Clerks and Freeway you are a sicko. I never laughed at anything as hard as I laughed at Clerks. Another one of my favorites is Hollywood Knights.

I may be dating myself, but some of my favorites are;
1. The Day the Earth Stood Still - (Klatu, Barrada, Nikto)
2. Clerks
3. My Name is Nobody
4. The Long Kiss Goodnight
5. Evil Dead II
6. Freeway - Reese is one Bad Chick
7. PeeWee's Great Adventure (Yeah, I Know)
There are others, but this should give you an idea of how twisted someone can be.

If you haven't seen the movie TREKKIE'S, watch it!! Especially if your NOT a star trek fan! Even though I do like star trek, this is a disturbing documentary hosted by the actress that played Liutenent Yar on the next generation. It shows a hell of a lot of people that take it a bit too far. I think it's actually a pretty good comedy, because when you see how nutty some of these people are, you can't help but laugh, and cringe a little too!! Everyone I've showed this movie too has not only enjoyed it, but borrowed it to show someone else.

Interesting tale of a modern day US Naval Aircraft carrier, that travels back in time to the day before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. An original plot with a few twists. Martin Sheen & Kirk Douglas (I think) star in it.

I was in the Navy when that movie came out. They must have shown that movie a hundred or more times on the destroyer I was on. I still like it! Ohh you forgot to mention it also had Katherine Ross :D.

The usual suspects was good. Another good one is Diner. It's an older movie and has Mickey Rourke, Kevin Bacon, Paul Riser, and Daniel Stern when they were just starting out. A VERY good movie!!!

Well, with quaddawg bringing up O Brother, Where Art Thou?, I thought I'd recommend the Coen brothers' very first film: Blood Simple. It doesn't have quite as much of the humor found in their more recent offerings, but it's still an excellent, dark film.

Well, after datahole's recommendation of the excellent Shogun Assassin (WATCH IT!) , I'm going to throw out another one of my favorites: Blue Velvet

This David Lynch film from 1986 has Dennis Hopper in his freakiest role ever. Hell, it's worth it just to hear Isabella Rossellini utter, "you put your disease in me," after a ---ual encounter with the protagonist :D
