This is the second time in a month someone has canvased my neighborhood wanting to sign me up for dishnet. they told me I could trade in my "old" satellite equipment. I told them no, but they were real persistant and interested in how old my equipment was and what kind of service I had.

I played stupid, told them my wife(sic) handled the finances and all I did was yardwork and ocasionally throw a leg over the Harley.

ein.

From what I understand...this is a fairly common scam that some losers are using to obtain cheap (or free) DSS systems. They're basically looking for people with older H-systems that they can use to sell for emu setups. Then they give them some crap about a free upgrade to dishnet and if the sucker gives up his DTV, they just call a dishnet distributer to get them a dish.

Next time he comes by...tell him you want to see some ID and ten bucks says he hauls ass outta there.

Peace.

People used to buy a bunch of HU systems with new receivers... find people with old H systems. Tell them about this GREAT deal where they would swap them this brand new receiver for that old "piece of junk". So they would go into the house, unplug old receiver, plug in new receiver, call DTV get the sub swapped to the new HU.

Bang. Cheap H card.

einstein99, Dish Network is having a big push on sales right now that may be the reason they are in the hood.

Yes, I believe it is a scam also. My friend that lives about 45 miles away said that "satellite company employees" (yeah right) were in his neighborhood asking the same kind of questions. He actually asked them what co. they worked for and then asked them to see their license. They packed up and left very quickly. Hmmmm......
