I have an RCA DRD420RE receiver in the other room hooked up to my home theatre receiver and a TV with cable TV in this one. I decided for an experiment to hook this TV up to the receiver using TV Out (since it's hooked through S-Video and RCA jacks in the other room so it was open). It was great except for the fact that I'd have to go into the other room to change channels.
Well for the hell of it I thought I'd aim the receiver in the direction of this room and see if the remote would still work.
Much to my amazement it did! I mesured and I'm more than 30 feet away from the receiver in the other room and can still change channels. I had no idea the remote/receiver link was so powerful!
So now I'm truly set and didn't have to buy a FM transmitter for the receiver.
Thought I'd let you guys in on the experiment because I found it interesting.

I use an rf remote. I don't know why, though. The only time i really needed it was when I first hooked it up. I'd go in each room of the house with it, while my wife stayed in the living room. I'd yell, "Did it change?" She'd say, "Yeah." Then to the next room, "Did it change?" "Yeah" etc., etc. It was pretty cool, but now I just sit on the couch and point it dirctly at the receiver like I'm used to.

HAHAHA that's hilarious! I am also a sucker for tech toys that I don't really need. But knowing you can do stuff that most people can't makes you feel like a Jetson. The worst part is I can barely afford rent, but I don't think twice about going to the local Futureshop and looking at all the newest toys and sometimes buying them (if I decide that Kraft Dinner will be fine for the next few weeks):)

While we are on the subject..
Ive been reading about a hack for wireless network cards for computers...So I purchased 2 cards off of e-bay and put them in 2 computers here at the house...works like a champ...Now..onto my next project..Im going to take the cards and splice a cable on each to send and receive Via an antenna ...Ive read alot on this and it is possible to get a range of up to 30 miles..line of sight...and about 1500 feet through trees houses and such... but I need 2 parabolic antennas...these are high dollar and dont want to spend that much on the project...Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know where I can get 2 of these or something equal?? Thanks in advance..And if anyone wants to know the reason behind this..
Running server on one in one house with DSL..the other house can log onto the network..cuts ISP cost in half..PLUS...wanting to see if Pitou will work also..
Thanks for any info

Thursday on NBC Los Angeles news they did a blurb on a voice activated remote. They did not provide the name, however, the close up showed something like InVoice. The unit looked trick, it could memorize three voices with 500 commands. The guy showing it off kept saying ESPN and the Sat switched to ESPN,
Ok you hound dogs, find it? I searched the net for hours and failed.
