Joe Blow started the day early having set his alarm clock (made in japan) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (made in China) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (made in Hong Kong). He put on a dress shirt (made in Sri Lanka), designer jeans (made in Singapore) and tennis shoes (made in Korea).

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (made in India) he sat down with his calculator (made in Mexico) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (made in Taiwan) to the radio (made in India) he got in his car (made in Germany) and continued his search for a good paying American job.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (made in Brazil), poured himself a glass of wine (made in France), turned on his TV (made in Indonesia) and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in America.

That is funny and true to an extent, and I know you meant it as a sort of joke. But this touches a sore spot with me.

There are so many jobs available it isn't even funny, if you don't have a job in america, you don't want one. Hell you can live well garbage picking and doing odd jobs! Americans are used to having things handed to them on a silver platter. You have to go and TAKE what you want, I don't mean steal, but the universe has provided an abundance for all of us. believe it..... Uh..... sorry, I almost got on my soapbox again!

Good post dude.

Good post dude.

So true...but in Canada, if you are single and on welfare, you can get about $600cdn per month after taxes. If you work 40 hours per week at minimum wage (6.85/hr) you would make $1096 (about $900 after taxes). There are alot of people that will not work the 40 hours per week for the extra $300.00 dollars/month. The government needs to assess these people to see if they can indeed work, and then make them work for their welfare checks, like cleaning the streets. Just my 0.02
