Well I finally purchased a domain name for our web site and discussion board fellow trailer park residents! We will still call the discussion area the Storm Shelter, but here is the new URL.... No More typing in IP addresses:

Tada! I look forward to much grief from Dave over this one, but he can kiss you know what. This is just the beginning of what will hopefully be a good place for everyone.

In the coming months, look for an upgrade to the full version of vBulletin, which will bring with it the custom features you are used to... avatars, registered nicks, Full VB code, HTML, the works...

And I'd like to thank mascdr for his inspiration in the first place to do it:

You know, I would actually consider starting a movement. My problem is that it would have to be more Revolutionary in nature, and that is treason here in the good ole USA, sort of ironic isn't it! They did it to england, but we can't do it to them! I say them because I don't consider myself a Citizen of the USA, I never took an oath or signed an agreement or anything. Don't get me wrong, I will stand behind the people of the USA, but the government is just a huge corrupt pile of writhing snakes, each eating the tail of the next! Damn, I am getting started again, they will probably hang me for treason! Patriotic towards the people of the USA I am, but towards the goverment, I say..... well I think you know what I say. One thing I am not, and thats a Lemming, or a Sheeple. I consider myself a citizen of the world, and the artificial boundries created by the Rich and Powerful fools of the world are simply to cordon off sections of money making slaves (we the people) for their own personal profit. It is time for the people of the USA, and the world to band together and say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We are not represented in government! The big businesses and lobbyists are the ones making the rules, we all know that, but still we pay their damned illegal taxes, like a bunch of cows, going to slaughter, the masses make the few big wigs billions and billions, while we work away the best years of our lives, neglecting our children as we work more and more hours to pay the Visa bills and Mortgages and Mini-van payments. WHAT A CROCK! I might not have a six figure income, but I don't participate in the governments bull----. I don'take their welfare, I don't want their Social Security, or Medicare, I pay what I have to, to pave the roads and such, but I'll be damned if I will pay the government to fund multibillion dollar aid programs to foreign countries just to "get in good" with their leaders aso we can get titanium or whatever. BULLCRAP. If the general public knew the CIA's budget and the thing they do with it, there would be a revolution in a heartbeat, or maybe not, since the sheeple are THICK in this country. THINK PEOPLE!!!! Live your life the way you want to, not some damn bureaucrat or worse, big businessman. OH hell, I am trying to get off my soapbox, but I get so worked up when I get in this mood.

We are all brainwashed to believe that the majority vote in America decides the leaders we have! Nothing could be further than the truth! As a matter of fact, the leaders that get into office are often only wanted by a minority of the voters, here is an example, think about this (it happened in the last presidential election!) This is hypothetical, so bear with me and THINK ABOUT IT!!!

Say there is a Mayoral race in "Metropolis"
There are three major contenders and some minor candidates on the ballet, Smith, Jones, and Johnson, (as well as a few others)

After counting the vote of a total of 100,000 folks. the count is as follows:

Smith got 44,000 votes
Jones got 34,000 votes
Johnson got 20,000 votes
all the others combined got
2000 votes, its not far fetched, just take a look at the BUSH fiasco.


NOW:

Smith was elected as the "Clear" majority vote getter right??

WELL, here is where the bullcrap comes in:


44,000 people wanted Smith to be their mayor.
56,000 did not want Smith to be their mayor.
So where in hell is the majority rule!!!!!!!!!

IF THAT DOESN'T ENRAGE YOU, YOU ARE JUST BRAINDEAD!!!!

My point isn't really about the presidency anyway, that dude doesn't have the real power anyway. I am aware of the Electoral College process (thats a bunch of hooie too!) By the way, you just glossed over the fact that each state wasn't decided by majority vote either, that portion of the process was tainted by the same math as my example. But I am not really talking about the Bush thing, I think he won anyway, I am talking about elections with more than two candidates in general.

I am not sure I have a better answer, but people should at least THINK!!!!!


My point is that that we do not always elect our officials by the majority of the vote. As a matter of fact, the majority of the people rarely get governed by the candidates of their choice.

I do agree with your rant though.

The majority rule myth is just another example of people believing what they are told instead of doing the math. People in america (and in general I think) are just too lazy to think and act responsibly.

While the 3,4,5.... candidate thing seems to suck for us right now, I really think in 100 years the Libertarians will be running the show and One of the other parties will be a minor player.
