No offense to Americans, but we aren't in Siberia nor are we blind. I've noticed that Americans will charge me $15 shipping for something, and when I get it the STAMP on it will say $5 American.

My advice to you? Tell him you verified shipping on the web and that he's charging way to much. If that doesn't solve it, tell him to go **ck himself :)

Usually items up for auction have the shipping charges listed so that you can determine if you are willing to pay it before you bid. I have a friend who sells alot of items on ebay. Many items have a nominal cost to him, the shipping is how he makes money. Take the cell phone antenna booster that sticks under the battery. You have probably seen them advertised on tv for $19 dollars. He pays like 89 cents a piece for those. He finds he sells more if he list them for a penny and charges $5 dollars shipping than if he ask for $3 dollars and charges the 30 something cents it actually cost him to ship it. It also works well for returns. If a customer is unhappy he only has to pay back a penny, not the shipping. All I can say is buyer beware. Read the fine print before you order and chances are you won't have any nasty surprises.

Thanks for the reply! I'm just the dumb Redneck here in Tx.
And the Canadian is doing the cattle prodding. I guess he learn from the Pro's!
But I'm with you Ray2Jerry! (W/him going an **** himself)

I don't mind paying a fair price, but no gouging.

Yeah, thats ridiculous, tell the guy to shove it.

Go to iship.com enter the particulars, copy the web page and send it to him. If he doesn't like it, report him to EBAY they do not take kindly to that sort of gouging.

Quaddout.

I used to sell a lot of 303 receiver
systems and some of them were shipped
to Canada. The shipping was about twice
what it was to California. This was
shipping from Texas. Also,I live in a
small town and the local UPS shipping
center added 3.00 for their profit.
There are several factors that cause
the shipping to be higher than normal.
Also,when shipping TO Canada,the declaired
value is VERY important in determining
the tax (or duty, which ever it is).
I'm not saying the guy is not gouging you,
just saying that it might be legit.

I'm in Toronto, Canada.

A couple months ago I got a $60 + 15$ S&H in US dollar item from eBay, and I received billing of more than $50 in Canadian dollars by UPS. I called UPS and he told me that there is administration charges if it was by UPS ground for customs processing, none if by air. Also, as they forgot to colloect it with all the GST+PST on delivery, they wanted to charge me $5 surcharge. I argued to take off the $5 surcharge (I cannot pay for their mistake), however, failed to drop the admin charge (more than $25 CND + tax).

So I ended up paying about $30 + tax in US dollar for a package weighing a half pound. Usually I pay around $10 for shipping and taxes are extra.

So beware about UPS ground. Maybe just me, but I had no trouble with USPS so far.

Yeah, same here, UPS sucks to canada, USPS is better, but SLOW as a rule. I can ship to Tokyo for less sometimes.

It keeps telling me invalid Zip for the Canada zip code!
I thought there might be a trick to it.

I don't think it will figure FROM canada, it will figure TO canada, but you have select Canada as the country.

You can go to the shippers website for shipments FROM canada.

go to ups.com and see if that works for you

here: http://wwwapps.ups.com/servlet/QCCServlet?iso_language=en&iso_country=US

But I will warn you UPS is HIGH FROM canada

If you go to canadapost.ca they have a rate calculator on there site that will give you shipping quotes. With repsect to E-Bay, I live in Canada and it has gotten to the point where I won't buy anything from the US if the guy ships with UPS. The fees they charge are nuts. If your in a larger city use FedEx or USPS. I have had the best luck with the USPS priority mail. I bought a CD from LA paid $4.00US for shipping and had in arrive in Western Canada in 5 days.
