Does anyone know why Dave is dropping WWF pay per view? It was mentioned last night that Dave will no longer show WWF PPV shows and you needed to contact another Satellite provider to watch it on your dish. Whats up with that??

Probally dropping them over the fact that to many people are watching it for free, and not only in Canada.

I know a lot of people that watch wresting on DaveTV, but I don't know any who actually pay for it. javist may have a point. I know I won't even watch it for free, never mind pay to watch it.

I don't know if I agree. I don't know too many people that pay for any ppv's events or movies but their still going to have more events and movies. There must be another reason.

the fact that they are on Summer Slam 9000 or something like that, what parent in thier right mind would keep shelling out $40 for that every other month....

Re: WWF PAY PER VIEW NOT ON DTV ANYMORE [re: y2krascal]

Ok, there contract was up and Dave wanted a bigger cut and some back pay bull----. Instead of negotiating with WWFE, they just sued them.. bunch of bullshi

Pdquix is right. It's a money thing. I could care less though because I don't watch the crap. Now if we were to lose ppv boxing, that would be another story.

I am going to take a guess and say that the dropping of the WWF PPv's are not the idea of Dave TV, but rather that of the WWF. It has been stated recently that the WWF is taking the loss of sales to customers of the PPV's very seriously in both the US and Canada. I am not sure of any law that they have on there side in Canada, but knowing the WWF they will find away. I do know that many people, including the WWF, are very worried over this issue and the lack of control Dave has over his product. Here's hoping in nevr comes to pass.

Any PPV event which has a great viewing audience(USA and Canada) is a great way for Dave to take out many illegal cards(i'm still buzzing over BS ecm back in January). Put all the fish in a bucket and ......
Really bad strategic move on Dave's part!
As a paying DTV customer( :) ), I will switch to another sat provider so I can "order" and future WWF ppv event!

As long as they don't take away Sesame Street, I'll be happy! LMAO

this from blockbuster ticket for direct tv

"DIRECTV To Lose WWF PPV

If you saw tonight's SummerSlam you heard right! JR advised DIRECTV customers that this would be the last PPV you will see on DIRECTV. I would expect a new contract to be done soon as DIRECTV would not like to loose its subs to Dishnetwork.

Since January of this year, the WWF has been operating under an extension of its contract with DIRECTV which will expire as of the end of August 2001 . At present, the two parties have not agreed to the terms of any future agreement and as such there may be some risk to the estimates for total pay-per-view buys and revenues included in the guidance discussed above. WWF will consider other alternatives in the event that there is a termination of the current extension.

Blame Vince and the millions he lost on the XFL as he seeks to recoup the money he lost. Basically this is all a money matter as Vince wants a bigger cut on his PPV buys.

I will keep you updated on the progress of this matter!"

I think that is the biggest joke i have ever heard in my life. Dave needs the WWF just as much as Vinnie O Mac needs Dave, and that is the bottom line.

I dont agree with dtv not having control over their product, I think they have tons more control than cable I know people who have had cable descramblers for years and never once been without all channels, with hacked cards however its a constant strugle to stay up and running and their are outages
