Im not sure if this belongs in the Trailer Park, but I can't think of anywhere else to post it.
Today on channel 855(and 398), DTV's Roxanne Austin(president and COO of DTV) made an announcement concerning the current "state" of DTV. The jist of it was that DTV is not doing well. Mostly because of non-activated systems :)
to quote Roxanne...
"there is a gap between the number of sales and the number of new customers. This is partially due to what we call the non-activation problem. Plain and simple, non-activation is mostly about piracy. As a result we have dramatically stepped up our signal integrity efforts. In the next couple of weeks we will be requiring a credit card at the piont of sale along with activation agreements. We are hitting end users, the people who steal DTV signals, with lawsuits. Previously, we just went after the hackers, and we are looking at other ways to shut the pirates out."
I realize this isn't really anything new, but thought some folks might be interested to read it.
She also mentioned that they will be trimming thier workforce.
