Installer guru's-

I have an older model dolby digital IRD that I don't want to part with. However, I will be installing an oval dish that gets both birds (101 & 119) and I want to be able to use this non "plus" IRD to access them both. I understand that I will need a 22khz tone generator switch to do this correct? Can you recommend any sources for the switch?

Will this enable me to run both signals in on one line (using the multiswitch that came with the oval dish) and then use the 22khz tone generater switch manually inside whenever I want to access the 119 bird? Or will I have to run 2 lines into the 1 IRD and and switch back & forth with an A/B switch? Will I still need the tone generater switch even with the 2 lines?

I would appreciate any guidance from someone that has done this. Again, I don't want to use a "plus" IRD and lose all my locals.

Thanks in advance!

You can't properly use a non-plus receiver with an oval dish and the 22khz tone multiswitch. You will get only channels from the 101. Even if you wired the 119 lnb to the non-plus receiver without the multiswitch you won't get all the channels from the 119 sat. The 22khz multiswitch usually comes with the oval dish. I would sell my older receiver on eBay which should bring enough to buy a new plus receiver.

Folks-

Thanks for your input so far. I have done alittle more
research on this and it seems that if I hookup a 22khz tone
generator it will enable the 119 bird with my older IRD.

I would really like to keep my older dolby unit as I have a
one-chip emu in it as well. I have located a company that may
have the part I need to get it all working. I'll let you know
how it turns out. Have a good one.

Perucho-

Yeah, I know about that little trick. But that still won't
give me the locals that I want. Thanks.

Has anyone tried the 22khz tone generator before?
