I have been doing alot of searching and reading about hdtv and am more confused now than before. I looked at alot of tvs and finally settled on the pioneer 53 hdtv wide screen. I then talked to salesman about what improvement would be had if i bought a $700 hdtv to go with it. He said a major improvent would be seen, although nothing is being broadcast over dss that is hdtv yet.
So i decided to ask one more guy that acutally worked in the dept that sold the hdtv recievers. Its a toshiba by the way. He said that no improvemt would be seen now untill dtv starts broadcasting in hdtv. So now im really confused.
Also i read reviews on the digital pioneer i bought and it said that unless you use a hgtv reciever, dss looks crappy.
Sorry about the long post , but im really confused. Any help on these matters would be greatly appreicated.
thanks

some hdtv ird's can up scan regluar NTSC to 480i and 1080i and decode OTA(over the air) digital boradcast ..
i have the Sony SAT-HD100 reciver and pioneer PRO710 mon.up scaning to 480i is better then the NTSC standerd(in 16x9 format)1080i is way better but its not all in 16x9(wide screen)but the hi-def stuff is just badass(HBO on 509 and some ppv's on 199)

How does your tv look , disco. That pioneer you have is top of the line. And BB has that toshiba hgtv receiver, can you emulate with it and will it get 900's?
thanks
