Is there a way that you can save a video file off the net. Like a windows media file? I have some that I want to save but it won't let me. It will save the links but that's it. I want to put them on a cd.

he,he, first day member,first post,
thank god there is something on this site I know something about
do a search to get a copy of streambox vcr, a streaming video recorder
that got pulled due to legal problems. Will record any stream,(except i think, java), asf wmv rm, etc. Most good video sites(non-porn) that offer free streaming movies, try to hide the streaming server adress(not very well i might add), which you need to capture stream, such as
"mms://kkrsvc01.kkrs.net/netshow/movies/cannibal_300.asf", which is the server link to that movie by the south park guys, past this on streambox, and boom! Most of the time, your temporary internet files directory in windows will have an .asx file, with this address, which is put their as you get the stream. Streambox will also load html web pages and show you the links, most have the link in their source code, such as that streaming music video site. last but not least, a program called url snooper will look for packets recieved with the addy. hope this is of some help, maybe you could point me in the direction of a good dss hack tutorial for dummies(me) im new to the dss stuff.lol

Okay, I just found the solution yesterday from VCDHELP dot com. All I have to do was look for the video clip in the TEMPARARY folder.

just right click and "save as" and then choose where you want to save it

That only saves the link. You need the software they were talking ab out to actually "capture" it. Saving the link just gives you a quick reference. But if they take the link down then you can't do it.

Has anyone found these two programs and could you maybe PM me if you have.

1) Streambox vcr
2) URL snooper

Can't find either one.

OK I may be doing something wrong. I did the crack for the streambox vcr but when I paste a URL it goes to an authorization check. I thought with the crack it wasn't supposed to do it? What am I doing wrong?

Stream box stopped the product due to the pressure from the contents providers. It needs their server to make it work.

Try the 'Hi Net Recorder'. It's a Korean product. I'm using the Korean version, and it works in most cases. Go to http://www.hoonnet.com and select English. Download Hi Net Recorder.

It is so powerful that some Korean sites started to scramble their signals again it, but no American site is doint it so far.

if I'm trying to use this at a site where i need to enter a password to view the videos how can I use the program. Should I enter my password with windows media then use the program or what?

Spree,

Usually, those sites will prompt login at some point once. And the click will initiate the transmission of stream data.

I login first, usually start viewing the stream. Viewing the stream is needed to find out the correct URL, from the properties in Media player File menu. Then stop viewing it. Paste the URL in Hi Net Recorder, disable the playing and only activate the recording. You should try and test it yourself for a specific site.

It is not 100% method. Real Player files are not supported. Some sites hide the URL so well that more digging is needed. Some sites know that you're recording it and cut the stream. And some ISPs will disconnect it if it remains in receive only. I use FreeAgent to poll signal in every 2 minutes.

I'll be out of town for a while. If you have more problems or ideas to share with me, please leave a post with 'Hi Net Recorder' or my-id in the subject. And let us know if it worked for you or not.

Enjoy stream media!
