Last night I was watching TV on DTC-100 when my receiver locked! The only light that is on is the HD light! I tried to do a reboot, unplugged it overnight, nothing works. The light stays on and no picture!
This was a winked receiver.
I was running Unhit H in Bootloader with Wink bin. Also no change on H card!

Hi cokemn:
My DTC-100 (with my HU-Legal card) took the upgrade last night without problems. The SHO logo is different.

My receiver took the upgrade with no problems also but I'm sure they did more than improve the logo on the station guides. Last time they did an update they took away are ability to use H cards I'm hoping there not setting us up for something else.

It killed mine last night. Same problem as reported with only the HD Monitor light and nothing else. Its as if their is no operating system anymore. As if it erased the original code and never rewrote the new code. Now I have a 500 buck paper weight. Neither DTV or RCA will not take responsability. My receiver still had the 40B code. I just picked up the new Sony and all I can say is i WANT MY RCA BACK!!!!!! The Sony looks nice with its display on the unit, but damn is it a slow POS.

The differnces that I have noticed with the newer upgrade is a newer channel guide, moving between SAT and Antenna is MUCH more quicker and when changing channels. The channel change is noticably less hesitant to the next channel.

Hello green giant, Just curious if you Had done any Hardware modifications to your unit to try and prevent the software upgrade?? Also did it ask you if you want to Download a new software version??My unit is at 40b also and I did the mod to prevent upgrades (cut center wire and grounged the Wire on the board) I was wondering if this maybe causing a problem??
<<<<<<<<Lisnup65>>>>>>Was your unit modified or stock?? There is a 1 year warranty I think....
<<<<<<<Gib>>>>>> Go to menu Then 7(assistance) then 7(Upgrades) again, It will tell you your current software version and your past version. I am VERY curious as to the new version number!!
Thanks in advance for the replies!!!!!!!

My receiver was at 40b. It wan unmodified as I had it hooked to a X-10 module and when I was not watching HD it was not powered. I finally decided that I would take the update on Friday night and this is what I got. A DEAD RECEIVER!!! By what I understand the latest update was not a full flash, but only meant to change some parts of it. Does this mean that since I did not have the latest REV before the new 1 and that is my problem? As for the 1 year warranty. That is only for parts and not for labor!!! They want me to pay 130 bucks for a replacement unit which is not acceptable as it was their update that destroyed it!!! My new banner is "RCA SUCKS"

My DTC100 also took the update and is still fine emmulating. The update might have somthing to do with the new high def channel on 901(HD#2). It starts 16 hr/day programming on October 4, 01. Then again might just be dave playing around again.

I have read elsewhere on that net this has happened to others as well. RCA still will not acknowledge that the update could have been the problem. WTF does that say about their response to "US" the consumer. Think about it, if say 1000 units are screwed up during an update out of the tens of thousands out their and they want 150 bucks minus shipping to swap the unit out. Thats 15K in extra bottom line revinue created per update. Nothing like creating returning costumer profits as it is cheaper to pay the 150 than it is to buy a competitors unit. I wrote the Digital Review Board at RCA and asked for a resolution to this and I now await their response. I was informed that it will take a min of 7 to 10 days. Again I must say that RCA SUCKS and they will never receive another penny from me in regards to actually purchasing a product with their name on it.
