Now i'm getting mad .I have installed over 30 dishes in the last year. All run flawless.Except this one .The run is just a little over 100 feet. And it runs no problem during the day signal at 92,when night falls the thing cut's out every 20 min.SFSS.So i went and got a signal amplifier and same thing happens. Any idea on how i can correct this ?It's not the LNB i have hooked my cable to both and worx no problem ,It's not the cable,It's not the splitter downstairs either .Why would this be happening only at night ?

Thanx in advance .

Only at night the cable would go bad ,I doubt it .But i'll check again.

had the same problem on a dual LNB. One side would lose signal when the temp dropped. It's known as a "Cold Suck Out" in the cable industry. You have a poor connection on the cable, either at the LNB or the ground connector. Try scraping the center conductor of the cable clean. It may also be due to the female connection of the LNB or ground connection being oversized so it doesn't hold the center conductor tightly. The best fix for that is replacement.

Thanx elk i will try that .When you say scrape the cable ,do you mean scrape the copper wire ,Or should i just cut it off and put a new connector on there .Either way i'll try both way's .Thanx that was informative .:)

scrape the copper wire with a knife. It sometimes will corrode, oxidise and cleaning this way will make a good connection

It's a brand new cable on there .Do you think i should just tap into my cable since it worx no problem.Maybe the second out on the LNB is bad since i have'nt used it in over 5 years. I was just to lazy to hook up his dish. And really don't fell like climbing on a roof today since it's raining cat's and dogs.

I just think it's wierd that it only goes out at night .

The "suck out" problem is a center stinger that's just barely touching the mating recepticle. When it's warm, the copper expands and makes contact, when it cools off, the copper constricts, breaking contact.

Also, as mentioned above, the recepticle could be oversized. If you feel that the center conductor is long enough, put a little "kink" in the end of the stinger to artificially expand it's size.

It could also be a cold solder joint in the LNB.

Try reconnectorizing. Leave about 1/8" of center conductor beyond the outer screw-ring.

FWIW

Allright it stopped raining long enough for me to climb out and check the LNB.I must of been pretty liquered up when i hooked it up .Because the flipping copper wire was at least a quarter inch below F connector.DOOH :Z ,Hopefully that helps ,He has got T.V now but we will see tonight .
Thanx to all that replied .

Well night fell and the thing shut down.(Now i'm laughing, right).
So i said the heck with it and installed his dish next to mine and all is well.
And the funnier thing is that i hooked up another IRD to the original dish upstairs and worx fine .So i put that IRD downstairs and it did'nt work?
Now my other problem is that when i split it in the basement to the other IRD only one will work and the other shut's down .HMMMMMMMMMM.
I have split 4 different T.V's off of one dish and watched all at the same time with no problem .How do you suppose i correct that?

I have run all new cable and even have a signal amplifier on there. And tried 2 new splitters .

I'm stummped on this one .
