So I had my dtc-10 set to not take any updates. I actually did the internal mod of jumper to gnd, and cut the middle transistor leg.

I gre tired of having to unplug it every day after the failed upgrade was sent. I went and bought a new transistor and installed it, pluged the unit in and waited for the update last night.

Once it was time I noticed my dtc-100 shut down and had the hdtv led on. So I unplugged the unit, plugged back in, and the same hdtv light is on and stays on. No tv !!!!!

I messed it up somehow, even tho I took my time and totally removed the board from the unit before attempting to desoldier and resoldier a new ECG 12 transistor into place.

Anyone have any suggestions how to bring her back to life ??

Dude! I have the exact same problem! Exactly! My HDTV light is illuminated and I can not power the unit up. The only differance is that I did NOT remove the mod. I just woke up Sunday (10/14/01) to find my unit hosed. I also unplugged it overnight but that didn't help. My buddie told me to bring it in for service but I don't think that is a good idea. Have you had any luck getting it back up?

I had this problem and ended up calling Thompson electr. They said it would have to be sent in for repair. I did and they did and it cost me $100. Works good again but I dont have a clue what was wrong with it.

They didn't tell you what it was? When did this happen? Is there any way you could call them and ask the exactly what was wrong with it. My guess is that something in the stream killed it and they made you pay to fix it.

They couldnt or wouldnt tell me they just said they sent me an all ready repaired unit to make it faster. Worked out very well. I went to a mail and more and they opened the box gave me the new unit put mine in the box took my money and we all smiled..... end of story
