I just finished installing a Panasonic Oval dish that was purchased 3 months ago and my signal strength is 85 but I only get Spanish stations, music and some locals, what's up with that? I checked the dish point settings and they show readings of 85 under "B". "C" shows 0 and "A" shows 0. When I changed the "A" transponder w/the remote to 23,24 or 25 I get a reading of 85, just like B but still no english channels, PPV movies, sports etc., just Spanish . I tried slightly moving the dish left and right but still no signal under "A" when the transponder is set to 1. What am I doing wrong, I should have stuck w/RCA. There are some trees in the area but the compass shows that I am pointing to the clear blue sky area.

Sounds like you have the "Sat A" & "Sat B" hooked up backwards on the multiswitch (the Sat B should have signal on the upper 20's transponders).

Make sure their paired properly, put both wires from Sat A (DTVs main location at 101) on the "Sat A" inputs and do the same for the Sat B wires.

Panasonics dish is just as good as RCAs (neither of them actualy make the dish :) )

When you say multiswitch, do you mean the LNB? I have one wire from the LNB going to the receiver. It is a dual LNB but I was unaware that each one represented A and B. Thanks.

No, your dish should have 2 dual Lnbs (4 wires, 2 from each) if it is an "Oval" dish. There should be 3 places for lnbs at the end of the "arm" that holds them facing the dish. If you don't have this setup then you don't have an oval dish.

Now, if you do have an oval dish, it came with a multiswitch with 4 inputs marked "Sat A" & "Sat B" for the 2 amps to connect to and these positions are not interchangeable so you have to have them properly connected.

Is you dish an "oval" dish? I assumed your Panasonic system was HiDef and came with one.

My error, it is definitely a round dish. Does this mean I'm hitting the wrong satellite? If so how far off am I? I'm in New England (east coast) which is 236 on a compass and i'm dead on 236. Thanks

Yes it does seem like you are on the wrong Satellite. Just aim the dish a little to the left, 5-10 degrees, and you will problbly have to adjust your elevation a little also. I would guess probably raising the elevation.

Yup, I think you're on the wrong satellite too. What's more important than the 236 is the elevation. If that's right, then the only point you'll intersect the satellite "belt" (for you in the N.E., it's the imaginary line that starts high in the sky at due south, down to the horizion due west) when you move the dish side-to-side, it's where you'll cross DTV's satellite.

So, pay particular attention to your elevation. Plumb the pole so the marks on the dish for elevation are accurate (at 236 you elevation is what? around 30-35?) and point in the general direction of 236, move the dish a little at a time (probably to the left because you sound like you were on the 119 sat with your elevation Much lower than it should have been) and after you get a little signal and peak it up, make sure your elevation is not more than 1 or 2 degrees from what it should have been.

Good Luck :D
