I have an OmniBook 4100 (PII 266) Need to know if anyone has sucessfully put a Mobile Celeron 433 in one, I know the CPU is socketed, but don't know if there is enough room, would like to know for sure before I buy it. The Celeron Mobile 433 is made specifically for replacing the 266 PII, but I just don't know if there is enough room, or even if the CPUS are that different in physical size. I just love my old Omnibook, and would keep it if the $30 upgrade would work. Already have the RAM maxed to 180, as well as upgreaded to DVD etc. I hate to have to buy a new Laptop, as I have about every conceiveable option and accessory already, it would cost a mint to outfit another computer with all I have for this little jewel, not to mention it has a 14.1 TFT too. It's not even that slow, but I love to upgrade!
HELP!!

I just found out that the "book is MMC-1, that ruins everything, as I cannot find a MMC-1 CPU at the moment :(
Hmmm.

Yeah, I know. But it is such a trooper! That and the fact that I have bought just about everything available for it, including a DVD drive, extra batteries, extra charger, Airline and car adapters, DVD decoder, maxed the RAM out to 160 (thats all for this model) You name it, it has a 14.1 TFT, just about everything I need except SPEED. I mean I am on it now, and the internet isn't any faster on this than on my 1.4 Ghz Desktop, but when I open the Photo Editing, or other "Hungry" applications, it slows way down of course. I bought an IBM T22 not too long ago, but I sold it, it was a 1 gig smoker, but I made a great profit on it, now I can't find anything comparable for under $1800 or so, and I could get some other toy for that money! Well hell, I guess I will just keep it and give it to my Niece for Graduation and then get me a new one. Damn, 433 would have held me for awhile.
