Cable Modem and Tuner Card

I am getting a tuner card to watch tv on computer. (yes I am retarded) Can I split my cable signal just before my cable modem and run it into the tuner card or do I have to have a booster or filter?

I split my cable for about 8 months, it worked great. Then one day my cable modem would not work. After thinking it was everything else I unplugged my tuner then my cable modem worked again. Go figure…… What I’m saying is that YES it will work. But if or when you have a problem with you is cable modem try unplugging your tuner.
