I was referred to the avs forum, which is an excellent forum on everything home theatre related. They have a great HD section where you will find lots of answers if you do some reading. I was gungho for the Sony, ended up getting the Toshiba, which has been fantastic. I have a thread in this section with more info.

I'm a great beliver in matching the receiver to the monitor.
Use Sony with a Sony, Mits w/Mits, ect..
Mixing systems can cause anomalies (ever seen an RCA DCT100 on a Mitsubishi?)

I have have the Sony for 3Months and the QUALITY is Outstanding. The one small issue is the length of time to switch from program to program. I am I am not sure if emulation had an effect on that. The Program guide access in a bit complicated. I wouldn't have ANY reservations buying the same unit again.
