About 3 months ago I sold 3 HU's to a guy in the states. (I'm in Canada in case you can't tell. LOL) Anyway to make a long story short he ripped me off by getting his bank to stop payment on his money order. This was news to me as I didn't think you could do it, but he did. So this is where it gets good. I had some audio equipment for sale on E-Bay and it didn't sell. I get an email from a guy asking me what I want for it. So I tell him for a $1000.00 plus shipping he can have it. He agrees, pays in full through PayPal. I then notice trough his PayPal info that this is the same guy that took me on the cards! Small world. Now this is my question. Do I send the amp or tell him to go to hell? If I don't send it what can PayPal do? What can he do? Any help or suggestions? I don't want to send this amp but I also don't need a legal hassle over this.

After I started this thread I had a funny thought. Who knows maybe the guys in here as a member. Now that would be priceless.

FYI stop payments on checks are only good for 6 months, unless renewed. Try cashing check again in 6 months. Diamond Lil

I would E-mail the guy and advise him that you know who he is...and as soon as he Pay Pal's you the cash for the cards (I would ask for today's going rate) he will get his amp. FYI as long as you have a reciept that you sent something (Empty Box) to this guy's address Pay Pal or E-Bay can't touch you...they can't prove the box was empty...SAVE YOUR POSTAL RECIPT AND TRACKING NUMBER. Good luck...get the scum bag.

I had thought of that to. Sending an empty box and playing stupid. After he paid me with PayPal I let him know who I was and he's playing stupid saying that I have the wrong guy but I know for a fact it's him. It's the same address that I sent the cards to.

I would send him the empty box and empty your paypal account. If you did send him the equipment he would probably claime you never sent it anyway. If he cheated you once he will do it again. make him pay. Paypal can only take money away from you if you have it in your account. So if it is empty paypal will tell him he is out of luck.

Just my 2 cents.

Keep the money and take it out of your paypal account. Take all the money out. Then write to this gentleman and explain he owes you another 300 dollars for the hu cards and that you will ship the amp if he pays what you owe him for the cards or that you can return the money he just sent you, minus the 300 he already owes you.

I tried this. He's playing stupid saying he does not know what I'm talking about. I did however just clear out my PayPal account.

If you saved correspondence from him then forward it back showing you know it is him.

Sorry to hear about your loss CanadianMetalMan, that sucks. He probably searched for your stuff on ebay and figured he would screw you again. I would ask him again, send him copies of e-mail etc from him, from the last transaction and if after hard evidence he still denies he owes you any money, keep whatever the HUs were sold to him for, and then send the rest back and ignore him. I have dealt with my northern neighbors before in electronics and had good results, too bad an American didn't do the same. If he looked hard enough he could have found HUs pretty close to him...like at Wal-mart up to a few days/weeks ago.

Lots of members here in the states, if he is near one of us, and you can vouch for or get someone you know to vouch for the member....I would, for one, be glad to hand deliver the amp to this guy, and pick up your HU's while I'm there.............

Let him know that is what you are doing and I don't think you will have any legal issue with him....He is obviously a weasel, and thinks you can't get to him in the states. If returning your HU's isn't "convienant" ask him what he wants to do...........

(And for his sake, I hope he doesn't live near JungleMike:eek: )

OR...Take max's advise and screw him:gg

I like the Idea about not sending the Amps, but I also wouldn't send empty boxes, that would arouse suspicion. Weigh the boxes down so that he doesn't suspect anything and then open them in front of the postal guy. Once he opens them at home, it's his word against yours.

Also, if you really don't like this guy, his life would be made incredibly difficult if a letter to the White House with his name and return address showed up threatening people and places.

Now granted these are extreme and perhaps illegal things, but I'm not endorsing them... simply proposing different scenarios!;) ;) ;)

Listen he ripped you off, he knows you know who he is. The problem is he has probably ripped so many others off he forgot who you were. Otherwise he wouldn't have tried to you rip off again (I am sure he intended too). Keep the money he owes ya and send back the rest. Tell him if still wants the amps send the full amount back for the amps. You might want to send the money back to him in a bank money order and then stop payment on it just to show the POS what fun it is. Make him wait 6 months after that then send it back for real. There is nothing in the world to cure those kind of people except serving it right back to them. Send the money order back certified mail, if you can duplicate a legal letter and make up a fictictious law firm and lawyer, so much the better. Tell him you are prepared to take legal action if he protest. Know any lawyer friends who can help you out? :D
