I am sure someone familiar with Toshibas will respond, but generally Laptops are a bitch to get into, you usually need a Special startup disk to get past the passwords, I have seen these on ebay for a buck or two, also some makers like HP have passcodes that change regularly and you have to be a HP facility to get them, others just need the cmos battery removed and replaced. Sorry I don't know how Toshiba does it.

Itcbm.
I have through trial and error found that when the password is not known tapping f10 while booting will get you to where you need to be but, with out knowing the supervisor password you can not change the power on(user)password.
If by some means you make it in I think F9 restores the defaut settings.
A toshiba service technician would be nice right about now.

I tried the restore disk on mine it won't load with out the power on password, but I'm on a 1800 Compaq.

I did not remove the cmos battery as quaddawg had stated but it might be worth a try, that will just cost you the time it takes to do it.

Sorry I can be of no further help on the issue, good luck.

One thing I just thought of, if the owner did not set a supervisor password just hit enter maybe you will get lucky and make it in.
Worth a try if you get that far.

if its windows 98 , you should be able to click on cancel when it promps you for the password , and it should let you in :)

I have used several small programs to unlock system passwords.
You can look for these 2 clrcmos.exe and Killcmos.exe .
Worked great for me, but you should know how to configure your settings if you use these. they return your system to a "new" state. And it can be risky. But I was out of options and the computer only set me back 10$.
